In Country Value on Nama Group series of Round Table Discussion
Nama Group recently organised a panel discussionwith senior business leaders from the country to discuss In Country Value (ICV),its challenges and opportunities in the electricity sector.
Hosted by Eng. Hamad Al Maghdari, CEO, RuralArea Electricity Company RAECO (Part of Nama Group), the panel discussionconsisted senior leaders like Eng. Omar Al Wahaibi, Group CEO, Nama Group, KhalifaAl Abri, Acting CEO, Riyada, Eng. Ahmed Al Mazroui, CEO, Majis IndustrialServices, Amer Al Sinani, Strategy Lead, ICV Program Management Office,Ministry of Oil & Gas, Badriya Al Ismaili, Training Centre Manager, Nama For Competency Development NICD (Part of Nama Group), Gert Hoefman, CEO,Oman Cables, P.S. GopalaKrishnan, CEO, Nuhas Oman, Hassan Abduwani, CEO,Voltamp, and Safa Al Riyami, ICV & Strategic Planning, PDO.
The event started with a presentation on ICV andto initiatives undertaken by Nama Group, after which the floor was open fordiscussion. The objectives of the round table discussion are to identify mutuallybeneficial opportunities, develop white papers that can further enable theimplementation of Nama Group sustainability objectives, engage the public andmedia in the topic, and Identify new projects for implementation by Nama Groupand the industry at large. Moderated by Mayank Singh, Group Editor, OmanEconomic Review, the discussions revolved around the role of private sector infurthering the ICV agenda and creating opportunities for SMEs to participate inthe development of the economy.
The leaders also analysed issues like creationof jobs for Omanis and the technical training of new graduates. The fall in oilprices and its impact on the implementation of the ICV strategy was anothersubject that was widely discussed at the forum. The discussion came to an end with theparticipants summing up their views on ICV and Nama Group’s role in leadingthis initiative for electricity sector.
