EHC Names Omar Al-Wahaibi New CEO

The Board of the Electricity Holding Company, on the 12th of November 2011, announced the appointment of Mr. Omar Al-Wahaibi as Chief Executive Officer at the Electricity Holding Company. Most recently, Mr.Al-Wahaibi has served as CEO for Haya Water (Oman Wastewater Services Company S.A.O.C.) since its establishment in 2003 and until 2011. 

Mr. Al-Wahaibi is a graduate of the Institute of Science and Technology at the University of Manchester with a BSC Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988.

Mr. Al-Wahaibi began his career at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) where he held different positions. He then served in Shell from 1998 and until 2001. In terms of his role in the electricity sector, Mr. Al-Wahaibi was the Chairman of Board for Gubrah Power and Desalination Plant from 2005 and until 2011. He also became a Board Member of Public Authority for Electricity and Water in 2010 and the Chairman of Board for Mazoon Electricity Company in 2011.

On joining EHC, Engineer Omar sends the following message for all EHC employees: “I’m honored to have the opportunity to lead the Electricity Holding Company as we continue to advance the capabilities of the electricity sector to meet the electricity needs in the Sultanate”.
